Design Distill is a visualization studio that narrates design projects. Building on experience acquired in multiple fields, we are all about the creative communication of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, real estate development and digital media.

ANDREW HARTNESS, Partner

Following architectural studies in Paris, Andrew worked at Ateliers Jean Nouvel, leading initiatives in 3D development and real time design, and soon thereafter developed a taste for digital illustration

Andrew holds a MAUD post-professional degree from The Harvard Graduate School of Design. He holds a DESA with distinction from the Ecole Spécial d'Architecture in Paris, and a BA in Studio Art and Romance Languages from UNC - Chapel Hill. Ooutside studio hours, he is usually working on a never-ending stream of home improvement projects.

 

ALEX HOGREFE,  Partner

Alex grew up in northwest Ohio where he went to Bowling Green State University for his BA in architecture. He attended Miami University of Ohio for his Masters in Architecture, and moved to Boston after graduation to work for Paul Lukez Architecture. Alex brings with him a high level of mastery of all steps in the visualization process  In his spare time, he is also the creator of http://visualizingarchitecture.com/. Through his website he engages with an online international architecture community focusing on teaching and experimenting with architecture representation techniques.

 

 

 

DINGWEN SUN, Creative Director of Animation

Dingwen was born and raised in Nanchang, an inland city in southeastern China. He came to the US for college and completed a Bachelor of Architecture at Virginia Tech. He practiced restaurant and hospitality design in the DC metro area for 3 years, where he thrived on projects involving design and visualization. To hone his design skills, Dingwen studied at RISD where he earned a Master of Arts degree specializing in interior architecture and adaptive reuse. When he is not tending his vast collection of rare plants, he enjoys creating original computer graphic art.

Kyle Hanover, Designer

Kyle grew up in suburban Connecticut but always had a desire for city life. Growing up he had an interest in architecture which ultimately led him to Boston to study at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree’s of Architecture. He dabbled in restaurant design and community design while studying and eventually landed his first career as a Zoo and Aquarium exhibit designer. Kyle knew early on in his academic career that his real passion was for the visualization and representation of architecture and the like. Kyle enjoys to work on personal visualization projects on the side that focus on his love of all things sci-fi and fantasy (huge star wars fan!).

 

Noah (Haoyu) Li, Designer

Noah was born and raised in Qingdao, China. He recently received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he developed his passion in conceiving holistic designs, honed his skills in storytelling through architectural design, and nurtured his interest in visualization. He is very excited to start his journey at Design Distill and share his passion for digital visualization.
